The Stable Bar is the perfect destination for anyone seeking a traditional country pub and kitchen, that serves a wide selection of drinks and homemade food, and is within easy reach of Edinburgh city centre.

Located at the end of Mortonhall Gate, just past the Klondyke Garden Centre and near the Mortonhall Camping and Caravan Park entrance, you'll find that The Stable Bar is packed with both charm and character.

We have plenty of seats in our historic courtyard for you to use on hot summer days, and a wood-burning stove that keeps the bar snug and warm on cold winter afternoons.

Since taking over the management of the bar, in the summer of 2014, we’ve made

We’re proud that our choice of draught beers are all produced by Scottish brewers:

• Belhaven

• Innes & Gunn

• Stewarts

• West

In addition you’ll find that our cask ales and ‘guest’ beers change on a regular basis - which will more than satisfy the taste-buds of any CAMRA real ale lover.

We also stock Thistly Cross cider, plus a wide selection of wines and spirits, as well as juices and non-alcoholic drinks.

If it’s your turn to be the “taxi driver” then we can, of course, always offer you tea and different variations of coffee.

The Stable Bar is an ideal place for you to meet, and relax with, friends and family.

Nestled to the south of Blackford Hill, and bordered by Mortonhall Golf Club and Braid Hills Golf Club, we're easily accessible by car, motorbike, bicycle, and even Shanks’s pony! There’s a large car park - outwith our courtyard setting - which customers are free to use.

Those in search of entertainment won’t be disappointed either. We often host live music evenings, and our regular ‘intellectual’ quiz nights have gained the reputation of being very challenging indeed

In addition we have plenty of board games behind the bar, plus a book exchange, which can keep both families amused and individuals stimulated.

Being close to Mortonhall Crematorium, The Stable Bar is also able to provide a private area of our bar for exclusive use by those wishing to get together to chat about, and celebrate, the life of a loved one.

Whatever your reasons for visiting The Stable Bar, please talk to us about your event and we'll be happy to assist.

If you’ve already been to The Stable Bar, then why not visit our sister pub, The Leadburn Inn, just to the south of Penicuik.
